THE COMPANY YOU KEEP
Sony Pictures Classics has announced it will release The Company You Keep, starring Anna and Shia Lebeauf:

Redford, who directed and produced the film, also stars alongside Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Sam Elliott, Brendan Gleeson, Terence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, and Susan Sarandon. Additional producers include Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker), and Bill Holderman (The Conspirator).

Redford also worked on the film with Director of Photography Adriano Goldman (Jane Eyre, Sin Nombre), Composer Cliff Martinez (Drive, Traffic), Editor Mark Day (“Harry Potter” films) and Production Designer Laurence Bennett (The Artist, Crash).

A thriller centered on a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run from a journalist who has discovered his identity, The Company You Keep will premiere Out of Competition at the Venice Film Festival and at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Company You Keep was financed by Voltage Pictures, who is also the international sales agent on the film.

“Robert Redford’s film is classic storytelling at its best and we are really looking forward to bringing the film to the American audience,” states Sony Pictures Classics.

“I’ve known Tom and Michael for many years. I have great respect for what they do and how they do it. So it’s a pleasant connection,” adds Redford. {comingsoon.net}

As we first reported, Anna recently joined the cast of “The Company You Keep“. There are now a few articles on Anna’s role and some other new cast mates. Anna will play, Diana – a young FBI agent and Shia Lebeauf’s ex girlfriend :D:

Anna Kendrick, Brendan Gleeson join ‘The Company You Keep’

Anna Kendrick and Brendan Gleeson have signed up for Robert Redford’s upcoming political thriller The Company You Keep.

The pair will also be joined by Iron Man star Terence Howard in the film, which will be directed by the legendary actor.

Redford will star in the lead role of the Neal Gordon adaptation, which centres around a militant who is chased by a journalist that knows his true identity.

Shia LaBeouf, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci will also star in the film. Shooting started in Vancouver last month.

Kendrick will play LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriend, who helps him gain information to track Redford’s character.

The Twilight actress also appears in the cancer-themed comedy 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Company You Keep Adds Anna Kendrick and Terrence Howard

Director Robert Redford has added a few more actors to his roster for his upcoming political thriller The Company You Keep, including Anna Kendrick, Terrence Howard, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliott, and newcomer Jackie Evancho, an 11-year-old finalist on America’s Got Talent.

The actors join Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Brit Marling, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, Stephen Root, Stanley Tucci and Chris Cooper in the Lem Dobbs-scripted pic, based on the novel by Neil Gordon.

Robert Redford stars as Jim Grant, a former Weather Underground militant wanted by the FBI for 30 years who must go on the run when a young, ambitious reporter (Shia LaBeouf) exposes his true identity.

Anna Kendrick will play Diana, a young FBI agent and Shia LaBeouf’s former flame who provides him with information he needs to uncover the truth about Grant and the Bank of Michigan robbery.

Terrence Howard will play Cornelius, the senior FBI agent on the case who has relentlessly pursued Grant across the nation and now leads the task force assigned to take down the Weather Underground fugitives who have been on the run for three decades.

Brendan Gleeson will play Henry Osborne, the retired Michigan Chief of Police who investigated the bank robbery in the 1960s.

Sam Elliott will play Mac, Christie’s employer in the marijuana trade who used to be romantically involved with her.

Jackie Evancho will play Robert Redford’s daughter, who recently lost her mother and is unaware of her father’s militant past.

The political action thriller is currently filming in Vancouver.

The Company You Keep is in development and stars Shia LaBeouf, Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, Brit Marling, Nick Nolte. The film is directed by Robert Redford.

Anna’s IMDB is also showing her name listed in Pitch Perfect, so it should only be a matter of time before her involvement with that is made official as well :D!

Anna has apparently joined the cast of ‘The Company You Keep’ – an upcoming political action thriller based on a novel. Shia LaBeouf and Robert Redford also star. Here is some more information from an early press release:

Los Angeles, CA. (July 19, 2011) – Voltage Pictures and Wildwood Enterprises have cast Shia LaBeouf and Robert Redford in the political action thriller, “The Company You Keep.” The announcement was made today by Voltage Pictures and Wildwood Enterprises.

Redford will direct from a script by Lem Dobbs (“Haywire,” “The Limey,” “Dark City”), based on the novel by Neil Gordon. “The Company You Keep” chronicles the story of a former Weather Underground militant wanted by the FBI for 30 years, who must go on the run when his true identity is exposed by a young, ambitious reporter hell-bent on making a name for himself. Redford plays the former radical at the center of this nationwide manhunt and LaBeouf, the determined journalist doggedly chasing him and his story. Producers are Robert Redford, Bill Holderman and Nicolas Chartier. Craig J. Flores is the Executive Producer.

“This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country’s ideals against their government.” said Voltage producer Nicolas Chartier. “It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today paired with the global icon Robert Redford.”

Redford’s Wildwood Enterprises originally acquired the novel and developed the screenplay with Voltage Pictures, who is actively selling the picture internationally. The picture is currently in pre-production and is set to film in Vancouver in September. … {huffingtonpost.com}

Here is some more recent Anna press –

Anna Kendrick co-stars in “50/50,” which opens Sept. 30. Formerly titled “I’m With Cancer,” it’s a dramatic comedy about a young guy (Joseph Gordon Levitt) who learns he has it and the reaction of his friends, lovers and family. And the reaction of a naive young therapist, played by Kendrick.

She won great acclaim and an Oscar nomination for her turn in “Up in the Air,” playing a corporate layoff specialist in training. But her first claim to screen fame was being part of the cast of “Twilight,” a saga she just finished filming.

“You know, when we finished, it felt celebratory. It didn’t feel maudlin. We’d made it through these crazy movies without losing any fingers or toes to frostbite. It felt like Mission: Accomplished.”

On one of her dreamy co-stars, who has a movie, “Abduction,” in theaters Friday:” Taylor Lautner is a more responsible adult than anybody I’ve ever met. At one point, during Oscar season, he saw me at a party with a friend, both of us older than Taylor. And as he leaves, he says ‘You kids have fun tonight.’ I was like, ‘You need to be president, someday, sir.’ I marvel at his maturity.”

On what is rumored to be her next role, the college a capella singing competition comedy “Pitch Perfect.” Kendrick, 25, got her start on the stage in musicals.

“I’m not allowed to talk about it yet, don’t want to jinx it. I feel like I should be seeing a voice coach. I’ve let it slide. But now that you mention it, I’m going to get right on that.

Anna Kendrick Says Working With “Open” Jake Gyllenhaal Is “Great!”

Anna Kendrick stopped by the Toronto Film Festival last week to chat about her new movie 50/50, in which she plays a young psychologist working with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. We sat down with the actress to chat about her role, the excitement of Breaking Dawn coming out soon, and working on the ensemble project What to Expect When You’re Expecting alongside tons of A-list stars. Anna recently wrapped up shooting End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal, and the two were spotted cuddling close off hours, so we asked Anna what it was like working with the heartthrob. Here’s what Anna had to say:

“[It’s been] great! He is one of the most open actors I’ve ever worked with. The whole set was crazy, since we were basically shooting it as though it was home movies. We didn’t stop shooting it; there was hardly a second between takes where somebody didn’t pick up one of the hand-held cameras. We just start shooting each other, which was a completely new experience for me but really exciting.”
