Have you met our May cover star yet? It’s only the super-talented actress and GLAMOUR girl crush, Anna Kendrick.

In the next issue of GLAMOUR – out soon – the lovely Anna talks Pitch Perfect 2, why she still finds red carpet posing uncomfortable and how ‘gorgeous’ George Clooney helps to keep her grounded…

Despite her style credentials and pin-up status, Anna says still finds the whole red carpet experience awkward: “Every year that goes by, I think that my on-camera smile is going to get easier…And it’s got worse and worse, to the point where I’m giving that Britney Spears terrified smile, where the lips are upturned, but there’s nothing but fear in the eyes…”

Anna also claims she’s known amongst pals as the one who ruins their group pics. Surely not!? “I’m…the queen of ruining group photos. All my friends will be smiling and looking really pretty, and I’ll be there pretending to pick my nose. Or actually picking my nose. It’s a fine line.”

But if there’s one part of fame the Twilight Saga starlet doesn’t mind, it’s reuniting with old friends, like the Pitch Perfect cast: “It’s a lot like school… Some of the girls got me into The Bachelor, so that became a group texting moment for us, and when you get back together, you remember every little quirk of everyone’s personalities.

The long-awaited sequel to the a Capella comedy sensation hits UK cinemas in May: “Because we’re basically shooting the same movie again – different scenarios, but in a lot of ways, very much the same, so it was trippy. It was like, didn’t we make this already? Was the first one just a fever dream? Or a premonition, and this is actually the real thing?”

Despite starring in several blockbusters, and with a Best Supporting Actress nomination under belt, Anna prefers to eschew the fame game, stating: “Part of it is because I’m dressed really boring in sweatpants and sneakers, so those pictures just don’t sell. You need to be really styled – in the perfect leather jacket and little booties, and have your red lipstick and your coffee – and I haven’t managed that yet. If I’ve got jeans on, it’s a good day.”

And going back to that Oscar nomination (for 2009’s Up in the Air), our cover girl has already achieved despite a relatively short time in the spotlight – and she’s not even 30 yet! “I feel like 29 is just total garbage, I’d rather just be 30 for two years…When I say I’m 29, I think I sound like I’m trying to make sure everybody knows I’m not 30… I look like a teenager… I really like ’50s-style dresses, but they make you look childish, and I don’t want to look like one of those people trying to look like a little schoolgirl…. I’m trying to give a message to the world that I am a grown up.”

And if anyone can impart some savvy showbiz advice, who better to listen to than (gorgeous) George Clooney – yes, that is in fact his full name: “I remember Clooney [her co-star in Up In The Air] talking about Rosemary Clooney [his aunt] and saying that she was really popular and then suddenly she just wasn’t that hot any more…Nothing changed, she didn’t forget how to sing, but suddenly people just cooled off on her. I’m always sort of prepared for that, so I’m not patting myself on the back for any of the social media stuff. I know that at some point people might just turn around and be like, ‘I hate you.'”

Exclusive Excerpt: Cover Girl Anna Kendrick’s December Interview

With eight new movies, including this month’s musical film Into the Woods, Anna Kendrick exhibits her remarkable range (literally). Not only is she immensely watchable, but she’s also immensely retweetable as a wicked-smart wit who calls it as she sees it. Here, a preview of her profile from the December 2014 issue of Marie Claire.

Anna Kendrick has a recurring dream in which she is kicking ass. “Like, really physically kicking, and throwing punches and doing karate moves and breaking things,” she tells me. “Which I could never actually pull off in real life because I’m so small.” She pulls aside the strap of her tank top to flex a slender bicep that, admittedly, looks more Olive Oyl than Popeye. “Ol’ McSpaghetti arms,” she says ruefully.

We’re sitting in the back of an SUV in traffic, an hour late for our dinner reservation and tipsy enough from the bartending class we’d taken at the Varnish, a speakeasy-ish bar in downtown L.A., that I feel comfortable delving into Kendrick’s inner psyche. She doesn’t know whom she’s beating up in the dream, but whenever she has it, she wakes feeling awesome and powerful. Which is way better than when she has her other recurring dream, in which some family member has died. “Those are just, ugh,” she says, punching her gut. “I end up carrying that sadness the whole day.”

If, as Freud said, one can understand a person by the visions they conjure while sleeping, then he might have looked at the things rattling around in Kendrick’s psyche and deduced—well, who knows. But at this moment, slightly buzzed and charmed by this 5’2″ actress who drops “fuck” every other word, whose eyes nearly well up as she talks about her family, I’m inclined to think that the combination of personality traits revealed by her dreams—tough girl with a vulnerable streak—is one of the reasons she has been kicking metaphorical ass in Hollywood.

On her role as Cinderella in Into the Woods: “The character is thoughtful and complicated. You see what happens after she marries the prince, when you start to face problems in seemingly perfect situations. The interesting thing about her is she overthinks things, she’s uncertain – we don’t see that in most versions. In a lot of ways, I think it’s this incredibly brave story. She’s neglected and abused her entire life she finally gets love and it’s not the kind of love she was looking for, and she stands up for herself.”

On taking a short break: “The whole going-movie-to-movie-to-movie thing, I’ve been living that way for three years. Like I need to be a person and, you know, maintain relationships.”

On insta-fame following her 2010 Oscar nomination: “It was insane. Like really groovy and exciting. [But] there was a lot of ‘Why me?’—that sort of thing.”

On the celebrity hacking scandal this fall: “I’m so infuriated on behalf of those girls. And bummed out that people feel like that’s something they can do.”

On having her looks scrutinized: “The most common thing that I get is, ‘Am I the only one who doesn’t think that Anna Kendrick is pretty?’ And you’re like, ‘No, you’re not the only one. Arguably, all of the boys in my high school agree with you.'”

On ambition: “Mostly it’s the fear that the wolves are always at your heels and you’re going to be tossed out into the street. If you grow up middle class, you just always feel like you’ve got to be working, because otherwise you won’t be able to pay the rent.” {marieclaire.com}

Anna will be model for the new Kate Spade bags, and has done a Behind the Scenes look with People for her new photoshoot.

Anna Kendrick’s Kate Spade New York Ad Is Here – Go Behind the Scenes With PEOPLE!

Anna Kendrick is the ultimate multi-hyphenate in Hollywood at the moment. She can sing, dance, act, Tweet hilariously — and now she can add “model handbags” to the list, thanks to her holiday campaign for Kate Spade New York. She took PEOPLE exclusively behind the scenes of the shoot, but before you get to ogle all the gorgeous photos in this week’s PEOPLE (on stands Friday), we thought we’d give you a little sneak peek.

“It was so much fun,” Kendrick tells PEOPLE of the shoot. “We went to all these old spots in Vegas, so it felt like we got in a time machine. It was so romantic and fun. There were eight guys on the shoot with me who were just cracking me up! Mostly in their 50s and 60s but a couple in their 30s, and the photographer kept being like, ‘Just try to get her attention. Try to get her to laugh.’ So these guys were just cracking me up. They were totally these Vegas big shots for the day.”

Kendrick posed in a variety of luxe Vegas-appropriate looks (fur hats! bejeweled minis! glam gowns!) while surrounded by a coterie of men holding the brand’s latest bag. And lest you think the bag is too small, know that Kendrick already has her tiny-bag essentials list down to a science. “Just wallet, keys and phone. Well, and my retainer.”

The star, who sums up her style in three words as “Lazy or classic” (hmm, sounds familiar) says she likes to be versatile in her style — not just low-key or super-glam. “I’m either! If I’m running to the grocery store, [I’m in] jeans and a T-shirt,” she says. “But when I go out, I’ve started enjoying looking nice, and that’s a fun new phase for me to be in. To me, when I want to look nice, I just want to go with something that’s flattering and classic.”

From her first splurge (a pair of $75 Ralph Lauren sunglasses) to her most recent (a Cartier orchid pin as a reward for Into the Woods), two things have remained constant: her Weezer tank from a concert 15 years ago (“This is embarrassing.”) and her love of Kate Spade New York bags (even before she was the spokeswoman, she wore them everywhere). “[It’s what] I’ve always loved about Kate Spade, which is that it’s just gorgeous stuff. It’s timeless and it’s sophisticated, but it’s always a little bit playful.” Just like the lady herself. {stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com}
