Another new role for Anna! She will co-star in a drama called “End of Watch” alongside Jake Gyllenhaal! Super exciting :D!

Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez are in negotiations to co-star in “End of Watch” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena.

Pic will be written and directed by David Ayer.

Story follows the longtime partnership of two LAPD officers as they confront marriage, love, fatherhood and the harsh realities of the Los Angeles streets. Kendrick and Martinez will play the officers’ love interest.

Ayers and John Lesher will produce through Ayer’s Crave Films and Lesher’s Le Grisbi Productions.

Exclusive Films International is handling worldwide sales of the pic and the film is expected to go into production sometime this summer.

Kendrick can be seen next in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1″ as well as “50/50″ starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen.

Martinez was most recently seen as Det. Sanchez on ABC’s “Detroit 1-8-7.”

She is repped by CAA and Barnes, Morris, Mark, Yorn & Levine. Martinez is repped by WME and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Entertainment. {Variety}

Anna Kendrick (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Natalie Martinez (Death Race) are in talks to star in the gritty cop drama End of Watch. Directed by David Ayers (Street Kings), the two will join a bald-headed Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña. Ayers directs from a script that he wrote, which centers on the friendship between two seasoned police officers in Los Angeles. Variety reports that the actresses will play the love interests of Gyllenhaal and Peña, though doesn’t state which actress is paired up with which actor.

Ayer is no stranger to cop dramas, having made his directorial debut with 2005’s Harsh Times. He also penned the screenplays for The Fast and the Furious, Training Day and S.W.A.T. I’m a big fan of Kendrick’s, and Gyllenhaal can be great with good material, so hopefully everything comes together for End of Watch. {Collider}

So Anna has been crazy busy with her three films in pre-production and filming. Here’s the first on set photo of Anna filming Rapture Palooza in Vancouver last week. There has also been a few recent casting updates to Rapture Palooza according to Variety.

50/50 is set to screen in New York tomorrow (with tickets available here), while it looks like Paranorman has just started filming, too :D.

In an amazing turn of coincidences, Anna has been announced to cast in ‘ParaNorman‘, another upcoming film that makes it the third casting announcement for Anna within 24 hours! ParaNorman is going to be a stop-animation set to release in 2014:

In 2009 Focus Features and LAIKA released Coraline, the great stop-motion animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s kids’ book of the same name. Now the companies are teaming again for two more stop-motion 3D films. The first is ParaNorman, which will be released on August 17, 2012. The second is an unnamed project that will be released in 2014.

The voice cast and plot for ParaNorman were sent out today via press release; check the details below.

Chris Butler (Coraline storyboard supervisor) wrote ParaNorman, and he and Sam Fell (The Tale of Despereaux, Flushed Away) are co-directing. Focus describes the movie like so:

In the comedy thriller, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

The voice cast has some names you’ll like: Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, The Road) in the lead, with Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill (Titanic), Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Elaine Stritch (30 Rock).

More from the press release follows. I’m looking forward to seeing the designs (that’s one piece of concept art, above) and, having enjoyed Coraline quite a lot, am simply looking forward to seeing more stop-motion animated features from LAIKA.

Arianne Sutner, animation producer on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and Travis Knight are producing ParaNorman. Academy Award winner Brian Van’t Hul (King Kong, Coraline) is the movie’s visual effects supervisor; Emmy Award winner Nelson Lowry (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride) is its production designer; and Tristan Oliver (Fantastic Mr. Fox, the Academy Award-winning Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit) is the director of photography on ParaNorman.

Mr. Schamus commented, “Everyone at Focus is proud to be partnered with LAIKA again on their newest wondrous creations. Travis Knight is both an extraordinary businessman and a visionary artist who we know will shepherd these projects with imagination and originality. We’re thrilled to have ParaNorman as our next movie together, one which marries the stunning visuals of 3D stop-motion with a compelling, heartfelt, and funny story anchored by a terrifically relatable underdog hero.”

Mr. Knight added, “ParaNorman is a story of intense beauty and emotional truth. It’s audacious, has genuine heart, and is funny as hell. We’re incredibly excited to share this wonderful story with the world. And we’re privileged to work again with Focus Features, with whom we share a commitment to bold, distinctive, and enduring films. LAIKA and Focus are truly kindred spirits. James Schamus and his extraordinary team have built their reputation on original thinking, old-fashioned muscle, and an unerring fidelity to creatively rich and thematically challenging cinema. We’re thrilled to extend the relationship that began with Coraline and look forward to being a part of the Focus/Universal family for years to come.”

Last year, LAIKA announced that that Chris McCoy and former Pixar director/story artist Jan Pinkava are writing a new project for the studio titled Little White Lie, which Jan Pinkava will direct, as well as other projects including an adaptation of Alan Snow’s bestselling book Here Be Monsters!, about a 12-year-old boy who lives underground in London in the 1850?s. ParaNorman was also part of that announcement, so one of these other two projects could be the studio’s 2014 film. {}

We have even more casting news for Anna! Besides ‘The Archivist’, Anna has also been cast in ‘Rapture-Palooza‘! ‘Rapture Palooza’ is a a comedic look at life after the fallout of a religious apocalypse. Anna would play Lindsey, who tried to reestablish her sandwich cart business along with Ben (John Francis Daley). The Antichrist (Craig Robinson) tries to take Anna’s character for his bride :D:

It’s a good week to be John Francis Daley. His show Bones (which I still refuse to watch because it is not a continuation of the Snoop Dogg ‘horror’ film) was just renewed for a seventh season, and now he’s been cast with Anna Kendrick in the Lionsgate post-apocalyptic romantic comedy called Rapture-Palooza. That’s the film where Craig Robinson plays the Antichrist who wants to take Anna Kendrick’s character to be his wife.

THR calls the film “Zombieland meets The Big Lebowski,” and given the plot synopsis that we’ve known, I suppose I can see that being the case:

A year after the Rapture has removed much of humanity from Earth and the planet has been rendered as a hellish proving ground, Ben and Lindsey try to reestablishing their sandwich cart business. Beyond the occasional blood rainstorm and talking locusts that surface occasionally, the sandwich sellers have a new problem: the Anti-Christ (Robinson) decides he wants to take Lindsey as his bride.

Chris Matheson wrote the script, and the film will be directed this summer by Paul Middleditch. You may or may not recall that this is part of Lionsgate’s new ‘micro-budget’ initiative. While the budget for Rapture-Palooza isn’t exactly ‘micro,’ at around $2m, it still means that we’re not in for a lot of effects. Don’t even expect something as studio-ready as Zombieland. Hell, the titles for that movie probably cost as much as Rapture-Palooza will.

Still, what sounded like a possibly middling premise looks a lot better with this trio as the core cast. {Slashfilm}

This film is directed over the summer as well by Paul Middleditch. You can view more on their IMDB page.

Anna is attached to act in a new film called ‘The Archivist’! The film is about “an American archivist who desperately tries to win back a valuable account he lost to his ex-wife in the UK while attempting to get her back as well.” Other actors signed include Kevin Kline, Tom Wilkinson, and Sally Hawkins, with director Robin Wright.

Sometime this summer the extremely busy Robin Wright (Ari Folman’s The Congress, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Moneyball, Rampart) will be moving behind the camera to make her directorial debut. In the first piece of news since The Archivist was announced late last year, Colin Firth is no longer attached but Wright has apparently managed to add her The Conspirator co-stars Kevin Kline and Tom Wilkinson along with, actresses Sally Hawkins and Anna Kendrick to what will be a robust fivesome of stars (this includes Wright in front of the camera as well).

Gist: Scripted by Ann Cherkis (writer behind the filmed in Montreal, direct-to-video The Secret), this is about an American archivist who desperately tries to win back a valuable account he lost to his ex-wife in the UK while attempting to get her back as well.

Worth Noting: Michael Stipe’s Single Cell Pictures will produce the film – which would be a first in a long time: they’ve only produced: Velvet Goldmine, Being John Malkovich, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing and 2004’s Saved!

Do We Care?: I’m citing Vera Farmiga’s Higher Ground as a recent, formidable example of an actress moving behind the camera and delivering what is a confident directing debut. We wish the same for Wright. {}

The flick is set to start filming summer 2012. You can see more on their IMDB.

Anna’s upcoming project, “50/50″ formerly titled “Live With It”, and “I’m With Cancer”, now has an official release date, set for September 30 of this year:

Summit is adding “50/50″ to its release schedule for 2011.The movie stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and focuses on a young man’s struggles with cancer.

Formerly called “I’m With Cancer” and “Live with It,” the film — based on a true story — will be released wide on September 30.

Despite the heavy subject matter, it’s been described as a bittersweet comedy.

Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston co-star. Jonathan Levine (“The Wackness”) directs.

Summit acquired North American distribution rights in February 2010. {}

Looks like Anna’s latest film formerly titled ‘I’m with Cancer’ and ‘Live With It,’ is set to release this September and is now untitled again:

I just left the Columbia Pictures offices where I got to chat with Seth Rogen about his new superhero comedy The Green Hornet, and while talking about the big-budget adventure I managed to get a little update on his long-delayed cancer dramedy Live With It. The film stars Joseph Gordon Levitt as a 27-year old cancer patient who struggles with the diagnosis. Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston co-star, and with a cast like that you’d think distributor Summit Entertainment would be anxious to release the picture. For too long there has been no word on its status, until today.

Rogen exclusively told me that the film would finally release in September. He didn’t give a specific date, though my hunch is that it could make its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before eventually hitting national theaters later in the month. That is, of course, speculation but Rogen did offer another interesting tidbit of info. He says that the film will no longer go by its title Live With It and that the project has internally reverted back to “untitled cancer comedy.”

Personally I thought that Live With It was the perfect title for a film bearing such heavy subject matter. It was certainly better than I’m With Cancer, another one of its would-be titles. Rogen didn’t offer any reason for the name change, so I hope he can come up with something equally as expressive of the films theme. Stay tuned for our full interview with Seth Rogen early next week, in which we discuss The Green Hornet in great detail! {}
