MTV has a behind the scene’s report about Anna in the just released LCD Music Video “Pow Wow”. They have a video interview with director David Ayer who talks working with Anna and the meaning of the video:

MTV: Anna Kendrick Is A ‘Shape-Shifter’ In Video Featuring LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Pow Pow’

A new video featuring LCD Soundsystem’s heady, sultry “Pow Pow” which premieres on MTV.com at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday (November 4), has all the makings of a cinematic epic, including an Oscar-nominated actress brightening up the screen and a Hollywood vet running things behind the camera.

“Up in the Air” starlet Anna Kendrick vamps it up as the video’s mysterious protagonist, and she’s surrounded by a crush of beefy bodyguards. Director David Ayer conceded that the concept is a bit cerebral.

“This video’s a little far out, a little esoteric,” Ayer told MTV News. “In this world, Anna’s sort of this shape-shifter, I guess you could say.”

Ayer further explained that the message of the clip, which is a joint effort between MTV and Mean magazine, is about remaining humble, regardless of how pumped-up one’s celebrity status might get.

“No matter how big you are, how important you are in this temporal world of ours, there’s somebody more important,” he said. “You have to answer for your sins, and that’s a little bit of what this video is about. And the person who sort of represents the power in this video isn’t, like, some hardcore gangster guy, but little old Anna Kendrick kinda being her shy self.”

Ayer was looking for a super-chill, accessible star for the video, and he found one in Kendrick.

“She is, like, down to earth, salt of the earth and just a rock star,” Ayer gushed. “As far as her talent and her abilities, she’s the real deal.”

Ayer is something of a Hollywood rock star himself, with screenplays for flicks such as “Training Day” and “The Fast and the Furious” under his belt. And he was amped to be a part of the project.

“I feel pretty honored that [LCD Soundsystem is] allowing me to kind of take this wonderful song of theirs — kind of a flagship song, I think — and marry it to some great images,” he said. {mtv.com}

MTV: LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Pow Pow’ Video Premieres

The new video from LCD Soundsystem featuring their song “Pow Pow” packs a visual punch — partly because of the sultry set and production design, but mostly because of a mysterious story line starring protagonist Anna Kendrick.

The clip, which premiered on MTV.com Thursday (November 4), opens with the words “at midnight, she came to collect the souls of men.” Cut to the camera panning an elegantly organized array of accessories — earrings, bracelets, a bottle of eye drops, credit cards, contact-lens cases, makeup and so forth.

Kendrick is shown selecting a bracelet, placing it on her wrist and then magically walking through a wall before stepping into a convertible where a team of beefy bodyguards await.

The scene cuts to the interior of a fancy nightclub, where Kendrick’s inexplicably powerful mystery lady wanders through the crowd looking surprised and delighted by her surroundings. She eventually finds a private cabana where a man and woman are sitting. The man, well-dressed in a fedora and suit, sees her and seems to know something is wrong. An older gentleman appears, presents the man with a paper to sign; he refuses. Kendrick then sits down next to him. As he inches away toward his date, she holds up her hand and releases a flash of magic!

In the next sequence, the mystery lady, along with the bodyguards, are back in the car, traveling to another location. The same drill is repeated at two other clubs, where two more men are “collected” and piled into the car.

All three men are dropped off at another location, where a judicial-looking man is ready to issue an edict of some sort. The three new recruits join a long line of collected men. Mystery lady enters, glowing and backlit and wearing a wedding gown — or so it seems — and smiles briefly at the men, until her smile turns to a menacing glare.

A quick cut to the opening shot of the elegantly organized accessories follows, only this time the camera pans over a set of brass knuckles and other ominous devices. Kendrick enters the frame once more, appearing in a different outfit, and we’re led to believe she’s embarking on another night of “collecting.”

So … everyone dies? Anna Kendrick is a collector of men’s souls? We’re going to have to think on this one a bit. {mtv.com}

Anna to be in LCD Music Video!

Anna will be in LCD Soundystem‘s music video for their song “Pow Pow” !

MTV has a new video interview with Anna where she talks about how she started working with the British electro-dance group – she is shooting the video now! :

To follow up the quirky, yet warm and fuzzy (because it’s full of guys in panda suits) video for “Drunk Girls,” LCD Soundsystem have enlisted some top-notch talent for their second video off This Is Happening, “Pow Pow.” James Murphy and company have David Ayer (“Training Day”) in the director’s chair, along with Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick as their clip’s ingénue.

MTV News was lucky enough to visit the Los Angeles set of the video recently, where we chatted with Kendrick about how she came to be a fan of the British electro-dance group, as well as the star of “Pow Pow.”

“I didn’t have their new album,” Kendrick admitted. “But this song is really cool too. The first time [I heard it], I was expecting straight-up melody or something. … I can hear it every time we do a take, in my head. I’m kind of grooving. I can’t help but groove to this song.”

Kendrick added that she’s a “pretty lame dancer,” but that the opportunity was too good to pass up.

“It sort of came out of nowhere,” she said of getting the gig. “David [Ayer] came up with this idea and asked me to do it. I’ve never done anything like this at all, so I was really excited about it. It’s been really fun.”

The “Up in the Air” and “Twilight” actress said her character in the video is just a normal, unassuming girl, but she’s surrounded by enormous bodyguards, and the viewer isn’t really sure why. Kendrick added that Ayer encouraged her to turn to a Hollywood classic for inspiration.

“He told me to watch ‘Sunset Boulevard,’ ” she said. “He used that as a reference as what’s going on underneath this girl.”

Stay tuned for more from our visit to the set of “Pow Pow” and news on when you might expect to see the finished clip. {MTV}

I’m having trouble viewing the video, can anyone else see it? At any rate, it will be added to the archive along with caps ASAP :) .
