Projects Update: Comedy Bang Bang!

As we reported, Anna will guest star in Comedy Bang Bang! in Season 2. Anna’s episode as of now titled “Anna Kendrick Wears a Patterned Blouse & Burgundy Pants”, will air on July 26th on IFC. I’ve added 3 good quality stills of Anna apparently ‘getting very close to drunk’ to the gallery.

When Comedy Bang! Bang! returns to IFC on July 12, Andy Samberg drops by for a delightful chat with host Scott Aukerman. Well, maybe not so much delightful as… DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS! As you will see in the video below, something starts to smell funny when Aukerman asks the former Saturday Night Live star a rather pungent question.

Of course, Samberg, who headlines Fox’s fall comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, isn’t the only celebrity who will pop up this season on the off-beat series that dares to laugh in the face of the typical late-night talk show. Jessica Alba, Aziz Ansari, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Hader, Paul Reubens, Rashida Jones, Sarah Silverman, and Adam Scott, among others, will be comically cavorting with Aukerman and co-host Reggie Watts. “You can tune in to see Anna Kendrick get very close to drunk on the air,” says Aukerman. “You can tune in to see Zoe Saldana arrested by a police officer in the middle of an interview. You can tune in to see Casey Wilson embrace her passion for musical theater. You can tune in to see a big [Mr. Show] reunion of David Cross and Bob Odenkirk doing a sketch together. And you can tune into see Zack Galifianakis as a jolly fat man who also happens to be Santa Claus.”

Enough about the guests — what about some Scott scoop? “I have a huge emotional arc this season,” Aukerman deadpans. “Sharp-eyed viewers will notice me asking a certain question almost every episode to our guests, and by the end of the season I finally get my answer…. You also will learn the story of how Reggie and I first met. It involves Cobie Smulders and it was all filmed, so that really works out for people wanting to watch it.”

‘Comedy Bang Bang’ Season 2 Will Break Some Sort of Guest Star Record

Scott Aukerman’s IFC show Comedy Bang Bang is set to return for it’s second season in July, and it looks like Season 2 will have even more guest stars than Season 1. If there is a “Most Guest Stars in a TV Show Season” world record, Scott Aukerman is gunning for it. Here’s a list of everyone IFC announced will be on the show this morning:

Jessica Alba, Aziz Ansari, David Cross, Jim Gaffigan, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Hader, Pee-wee Herman, Gillian Jacobs, Rashida Jones, Anna Kendrick, Andy Richter, Zoe Saldana, Andy Samberg, Jason Schwartzman, Sarah Silverman, Cobie Smulders, and Casey Wilson. Additional guests include James Adomian, Matt Besser, Michael Ian Black, Selma Blair, Aidy Bryant, Andy Daly, Adam DeVine, Nat Faxon, Dave Foley, Will Forte, Tony Hale, Chris Hardwick, Rob Huebel, Nick Kroll, Phil LaMarr, Thomas Lennon, John Carroll Lynch Jason Mantzoukas, Jack McBrayer, Tim Meadows, Christopher Meloni , Bobby Moynihan, Bob Odenkirk, Adam Pally, Jimmy Pardo, Jordan Peele, Jim Rash, Lance Reddick, Horatio Sanz, Kristen Schaal, Ben Schwartz, Adam Scott, Lynne Marie Stewart, Dave Thomas, Paul F. Tompkins, Joe Lo Truglio, Matt Walsh, Michaela Watkins, Zach Woods, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cedric Yarbrough

IFC’s press release this morning also featured a solid Scott Aukerman quote (“I haven’t been this excited since I wrote my press release quote for season one”) and some details on when the new season will air. Season 2 will consist of 20 episodes, broken up into two chunks of ten. The first half will air from July 12th to September 13th, with the second guest star-filled half starting October 18th.
