I have exclusive high quality photos of Anna at a new event — a dinner she and Barney’s New York hosted to celebrate the launch of Designer Marissa Webb’s new collection. She looks picture perfect :p!!

Appearances & Events > 2013 > January 29: Anna Kendrick and Barney’s New York Host a Private Dinner to Celebrate the Launch of the Debut Collection by Marissa Webb

Anna Kendrick on Skylar Astin, Twitter, and Marissa Webb

elle fashion Last night, Anna Kendrick, outfitted in Marissa Webb (a femme white chiffon dress cinched with an edgy leather vest), helped the former J.Crew designer fête the arrival of her eponymous line to Barneys New York (on sale now!). At the intimate dinner, held in a private party room on the fourth floor, a buyer for Barneys confided in us that it was a no-brainer to choose to sell Webb’s effortlessly cool threads after her first showing at New York Fashion Week for Spring 2013. Following a delicious meal, which top blogger Leandra Medine attended, we chatted with Kendrick about her controversial Twitter persona, filming with Skylar Astin for Pitch Perfect, and how she chose her ensemble for the evening.

ELLE: Hi Anna. We’re huge fans of yours!
Anna Kendrick: Well, I love your necklace! [Ed note: It was this Stella & Dot piece.]

ELLE: Thanks! It was really affordable.
AK: I was in Barneys earlier, and one of the staff complemented me on my $6 beanie, and I was, like, “Nailed it!” I love it when at fancy stores, somebody complements you on something cheap.

ELLE: Totally. You’re quite the firecracker on Twitter. Who do you follow on the social media site?
AK: I follow a lot of film blogs and a lot of comics. I follow Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Louis C.K., and Maria Bamford. I’m sort of obsessed with comics on Twitter, because you get a stream of consciousness insight into their crazy minds. So, mostly I follow people who I don’t know, and then I follow people who I know in real life on Instagram.

ELLE: Do you feel like a bit of a comic on Twitter sometimes? You’ve got some witty one-liners.
AK: No, I mean, I use it for all kinds of things. I attempt to make jokes on Twitter, and sometimes I think what I think is going to be really funny, like, nobody likes it, nobody responds to it. But apparently, I use the word “vagina” and people go crazy.

ELLE: Like that famous Ryan Gosling Tweet heard around the world?
AK: Yeah, I know. What happened? It wasn’t even that funny!

ELLE: We recently interviewed Skylar Astin about Pitch Perfect, and he said he tried to crack you up during filming but you were pretty serious (just like your characters). What’s your side of the story?
AK: I don’t remember! Being in a film in which I was a lead character who had to sing and dance, put me in a really stressed-out, serious head space. So, I can imagine him trying to make me laugh and me probably, not even consciously, not breaking. But, it definitely felt like we were taking a pretty big risk, because if we had made a movie about singing and dancing that hadn’t worked, it would’ve been really, really bad. Luckily all of the elements came together, and it was great. So, I could certainly see why I might have been ultra serious.

ELLE: And back to our favorite subject: fashion. What are you wearing this evening?
AK: We tried on a bunch of pieces from Marissa’s line last night, and it was all incredible. Some of it was really feminine, and some of it was really edgy. We ended up choosing this because it really represents the feel of the whole line—that kind of mix of soft and hard. When I tried on the dress, I thought it was just the dress, and I was really excited about it. When she put on this leather vest on me, I didn’t know what it was going to do; and then it weirdly made it even more flattering.

ELLE: It’s red-carpet season. Do you have any dressing tips?
AK: Oh my goodness. You know, it’s definitely a new world for me too. I love watching awards season and seeing people take risks. It’s something I need to push myself to do, so I feel like I can’t really give that advice necessarily. When you watch awards season and everyone looks really beautiful but really safe, it’s kind of boring. So I get really excited when people make bold choices.{}

Anna Kendrick Is Stepping Out of Her ‘Comfort Zone’ in Fashion

Anna Kendrick is the first to admit that she’s not a big fashion person. “It’s definitely a world I’ve been introduced to recently, and I’m trying to embrace it,” she said at last night’s party for designer Marissa Webb at Barneys. (Webb, formerly the head of womenswear and accessories design at J.Crew, debuted her own label’s first collection at New York Fashion Week last September.) Kendrick picked out her dress, a floaty ivory design with a corseted leather bodice, the previous evening. “Marissa and I met last night, and I got to try on all these clothes and play with her little dogs and we had several glasses of Champagne,” she said.

But although Kendrick’s interest in fashion is growing, she won’t be attending any fashion shows this season, and still enlists lots of professional help when it comes to getting dressed. “My stylist tries to push me towards things that are a little edgier,” she says. “I definitely have to push myself away from that comfort zone of really simple, romantic dresses, and that’s one of the things I like about Marissa’s line. She does hard and soft.” {}

Here’s Anna in a new photoshoot session modeling some clothes with her Pitch Perfect co-stars, photographed by Jennifer Livingston. I also updated the John Russo shoot from August:

Anna Kendrick and Alicia Vikander arrive at The Art of Elysium’s 6th Annual HEAVEN Gala presented by Audi held at 2nd Street Tunnel on Saturday night (January 12) in Los Angeles.

“Heaven” is The Art of Elysium’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting the majority of the foundation’s operating costs, and ensuring the continuation and expansion of its mission to make art a catalyst for social change, and bring creativity into the lives of tens of thousands of hospitalized children.

Just a few days before, Anna was spotted with co-star pal Brittany Snow at the Alberta Ferretti & Vogue Dinner.

Using her celebrity status for a good cause, Anna Kendrick attended the Art of Elysium’s annual black tie gala in Los Angeles on Saturday (January 12).

Looking gorgeous in an emerald green knee-length frock, the “Pitch Perfect” star worked the 2nd Street tunnel red carpet before heading in to lend a hand.

According to the organization’s website, the Art of Elysium “encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions.”

Making for a star-studded evening, other Hollywood A-listers in attendance included Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Rachel Bilson, Krysten Ritter, and Ali Larter.

Anna attended the Alberta Ferretti And Vogue Limited Edition Collection 2013 Fashion Show And Dinner last night, January 10th at Chateau Marmont in L.A. She looked stunning in a turquoise lacy dress that brought out her eyes. She seemed to be having a blast, hanging out with her Pitch Perfect co-star Brittany Snow and Drinking Buddies co-star Alison Brie.

The two Pitch Perfect stars stepped out with pal Alison Brie to benefit the “Protect a Child” Campaign by Jordan River Foundation

“Congratulations to Chris Butler, Sam Fell and all the PARANORMAN team on the Oscar Nod! I’m truly grateful to have been a part of it,” Anna tweeted earlier in the day after ParaNorman was announced as an Oscar nominee.

Just the night before, Anna was seen at the same spot with a guy pal.

Dior Beauty Hosts Pre-Globes Dinner

Few of the guests at Dior Beauty’s annual pre-Golden Globe dinner Wednesday at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood needed makeup to look pretty, but a little gilding of the lily never hurt. The house’s makeup artists gave each actress, from Christina Hendricks to Michelle Monaghan, the once-over, and a train case full of products sat on everyone’s seat.

Most, like Shiva Rose and Liz Goldwyn, couldn’t resist opening the goodies before dinner and Instagram-ing away. Others, like Ashley Madekwe, who just returned to work on “Revenge,” were fighting just to stay with, never mind document, the moment. “We have to be on set so early, I just might fall asleep at one of these things,” she quipped.

When pondering her party plan for the week, Kate Mara also had rest on the brain. “I’ll probably go to a few events, but part of me wants to stay home in bed and watch the second season of ‘Homeland.’”

While one half of the long table beat an early exit (by Chateau standards, before 10 p.m. qualifies as early), the other half stayed to celebrate Nina Dobrev’s birthday with a surprise red velvet cake, which led one passing hotel patron to comment, “There’s a really long table and a cake. Must be a wedding or something.”

Treating herself to a little humpday fun, Anna Kendrick showed up at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood last night (January 9).

The “Pitch Perfect” actress looked to be in a good mood as she made her exit, sporting a grey dress under a black coat with black heels.

And while Anna has been relatively selective with her acting gigs thus far, she has a trio of new projects coming down the pipeline.

Miss Kendrick will star in “Rapturepalooza,” “Get a Job,” and “Drinking Buddies,” all slated for 2013 release dates.
